The only time you would run into a problem when swapping parts between the 2 is with the scope bases. I elected not to drill and tap mine because the rear base would set at least an inch closer on the 581 over the 541 to the ejection port. Like. I have read on RFC about adjusting it but it will not go as light as I want. I am looking at a Timney trigger that will go down to 1.5 pounds but I would really like it to be lighter.

The production years for the 541 s manufacture are from 1972 to 1983. The front stud was placed 3/4" behind the fore-end without the tip and spacer in place. Some believe that Remington added sights to some 541S but I do not believe that to be so.I had a 541 sporter with Leupold 6.5-20X and shot it in rimfire silhouette for several years until it was stolen from my truck. A 541S is an extreamly good rifle but you are comparing apples to oranges here small action to big action. with that said the 541S will hang with a 52 B out to about 35 yards and then you'll see the B and the big action and heavier barrel take over.PWNolan. Remington only made just under 9000 541X rifles too. So there's not a lot of them around. On the other hand, I like the sights better on the 82G and the receiver's grooved so you can mount a scope.
